Of course, they weren't the first bunch of women to form a musical act, but despite their impact and influence,too few fem groups have remotely come close to the heights they scaled.They'll always be unique and can never truly be replaced, but after many close calls 'foundinthesound' believes a change is coming, at last.This pre-big time fame article below gives an insight into what they were like when they were starting out.
With the recent announcement of long serving bassist, Kathy Valentine's departure and my enduring fondness for this particular pack of players. It's apt that the first post be dedicated to them. Between The Runaways & The Bangles; The Go-Go's, out of the big three are still the only all female band (who play their own instruments & write their own songs) to have had a number one début album.
Now this classic group are still playing live in America at least. Now new In these different times of the music industry, where you don't have to sell as many to hit the top of the charts & continuing surge of female (pop) music icons, surely this will change.
After over 30 years, my money's on the three sisters of the hip group, HAIM (again from California, like the previously mentioned groups) to be the next to finally do the honours, with their upcoming long player.
After all this time 'foundinthesound' hopes this will surely aid an increase of positive production and popularity in decent female sound gangs. You Go-Go girls!!
